When/where is class?

I’m time eligible and I know all my stuff, why am I not testing?

Many possible reasons exist and are individual for each student so the best thing is to ask your instructor.  However, the most common culprits are attendance, sloppy technique and attitude.  Your instructors can teach you and help you, but you are responsible for practicing what you’ve learned and preparing yourself for testing.

Is there a test fee?

Yes, the test fee is $25 regardless of the rank you are testing for.

Where do I get a uniform (dobalk)? 

Just ask any of the instructors. They will point you to the correct person at each school. 

How much does it cost?

For light weight, the cost is $25 and are usually kept in stock. You can find additional options and prices on our Century page here.

Do I have to  buy it from you?

No, you do not have to buy your uniform from us.

Do I have to have a uniform?

Yes, if you want to test for rank.  However, you do not need to have one until your first test so you have time to decide if this is something you want to continue with.

When can I learn a weapon?

You are allowed to learn a weapon when you reach 6th kyp (Green belt), however, there are restrictions on what forms anad weapons you can learn so talk to your instructor.  Just because you’ve purchased a weapon does not mean you will be allowed to learn the weapon form.

What do I need to know for Testing?

You can find the test requirements here. This is meant to be a guide, not as instruction and does not take the place of attending class.

 How long does it take to get a black belt?

If you work hard and test at every eligibility point, a minimum of three and a half years.

I have rank from another school or style, do I have to start over at white belt (9th kyp)?

No. Grand Master Rankin does not take away rank, however, you will be required to confirm your rank.

Do you offer private lessons?

Yes, some instructors are available for private lessons. You can find the list of available instructors here.
