Yellow (8th Kyp) – 3 months at white belt

Yellow with stripe (7th Kyp) – 3 months at yellow belt

Green (6th Kyp) – 3 months at yellow belt with stripe

Blue (5th Kyp) – 6 months at green belt

Blue with stripe (4th Kyp) – 3 or 6 months at blue belt (blue+blue stripe = 9 months)

Red belt (3rd Kyp) – 3 or 6 months at blue belt with stripe (blue+blue stripe = 9 months)

Red belt first stripe (2nd Kyp) – 6 months at red belt

Red belt second stripe (1st Kyp) – 6 months at red belt with first stripe

1st Dan Black belt – 6 months at red belt with second stripe, free forms memorized for 3 months

2nd Dan Black Belt – 3 1/2 years, plus application submitted to head of school/Moo Duk Kwan Denver Board*

3rd Dan Black Belt –  3 1/2 years plus application submitted to head of school/Moo Duk Kwan Denver Board*

4th Dan Black Belt – 4 Years plus application submitted to head of school/Moo Duk Kwan Denver Board*

5th Dan Black Belt – 5 Years plus at least one student ranked at 2nd Dan or higher

6th Dan Black Belt – 5 Years

7th Dan Black Belt – 5 Years

8th Dan Black Belt – 10 Years

9th Dan Black Belt – 10 Years

These are MINIMUM time requirements and are subject to instructor approval

Regular attendance is expected and required for testing, also subject to instructor discretion

The test fee is $30 regardless of the rank you are testing for. Please pay your instructor before testing.

*To be considered for testing for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Dan rank, the Black Belt application must be provided to your head instructor and/or the Moo Duk Kwan board at least 3 months before your requested test date. The application must be completely filled out and all required signatures obtained. (If applicant is owner/head of their school, application must be signed off by the Moo Duk Kwan Denver board.) If student is requesting to test early, a statement as to why an early test should be granted must be included. The Moo Duk Kwan Denver board may advance a student early at their own discretion.
